New Delhi: BSP MP Dhananjay Singh has been chargesheeted by Delhi Police in a court here for allegedly repeatedly raping a 42-year-old railway employee for nearly four years.

The complaint was filed against Singh by the woman after the MP from Uttar Pradesh`s Jaunpur constituency and his wife Jagriti, a dental surgeon at a government hospital, were arrested in November last year in connection with their maid`s murder case, in which the charge sheet will be filed tomorrow.
Singh has been chargesheeted under various penal provisions of the IPC, including 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offence), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

In its charge sheet filed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sonu Agnihotri, the police alleged that Singh had repeatedly raped the woman between July 2005 to March 2009.

Referring to the complaint filed by the woman, the police alleged that the victim was raped several times by Singh at gunpoint and was threatened with dire consequences if she reported the matter.
It said that the husband of the woman was a businessman and was known to Singh and through him, she had first met the accused in February 2005.

In its charge sheet, the police has arrayed 13 persons, including three doctors, as prosecution witnesses and has also filed the statement given by the victim before a magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC.

Singh was arrested by the police in connection with the case on November 21 last year and he is presently in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police today informed another court here that it would tomorrow file its charge sheet in a separate case related to the murder of their maid.

Singh and his wife were produced before the court today and the magistrate extended their judicial custody in the case till tomorrow.

The couple were arrested on November 5 last year in connection with the death of their 35-year-old maid Rakhi Bhadra, a resident of West Bengal.

The court had earlier rejected Singh`s bail in the murder case saying allegations against him were "very serious" and he does not deserve any leniency due his previous conduct.

Rakhi`s body with injury marks on her legs, chest and arms was recovered from Singh`s South Avenue residence here on the evening of November 4 last year.

The police had said the MP and Jagriti allegedly used to "mercilessly" beat and torture their three domestic helps-- Rakhi, Meena and a minor. The minor domestic help had earlier showed to the court his severe injuries allegedly inflicted by Jagriti.

Police had said the domestic helps were allegedly tortured and thrashed by Jagriti with sticks, iron rods, clothes iron and even metallic deer horns.

Singh, who also faces charges of murder and offences under the UP Gangsters Act, was arrested for allegedly destroying evidence, not informing the police about the maid`s death immediately and employing a juvenile as domestic help.

Jagriti has been arrested under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 344 (wrongful confinement) of Indian Penal code and Juvenile Justice Act.
