One arrested for looting Muzaffarnagar riot victims` houses

Household items and cash belonging to riot victims were recovered after police arrested 1 person for allegedly looting houses during last year`s September clashes which displaced thousands of people.

Muzaffarnagar: Household items and cash belonging to riot victims were recovered after police arrested one person for allegedly looting houses during last year`s September clashes which displaced thousands of people.
Ankur Kumar was arrested yesterday at Lisad village under the Phugana police station here for looting goods from victims` houses during the riots, police said.

Some of the looted goods recovered from the possession of Kumar included a fridge, a washing machine and some cash.
Miscreants had looted goods from the houses of displaced victims during the riots. Hidden goods have been recovered by the police in few houses in the same village and in other areas too, the officials said.

The riots in Muzaffarnagar in September last year left over 60 people dead and rendered 40,000 homeless who had to seek shelter in relief camps.
