Wajidpur killings: Court rejects bail pleas of 4 accused

A local court in neighbouring Bahgpat district rejected the bail pleas of four men accused of being involved in the killings of two persons in Wajidpur village during last year`s clashes.

Muzaffarnagar: A local court in neighbouring Bahgpat district rejected the bail pleas of four men accused of being involved in the killings of two persons in Wajidpur village during last year`s clashes.

District Sessions Judge (Baghpat) Inderjit Verma yesterday rejected the bail applications of accused Om Prakash, Sushil, Subodh and Pramod?on the ground that they have been booked for non-bailable offences.

Two persons -- Iqbal and Shoaib -- were shot dead?and four others were injured during riots in Wajidpur village in Baghpat district on September 8 last year.
Police arrested the four accused in this connection and a case against them was filed by Uttar Pradesh government-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Meanwhile, bail plea of another riot accused Gaurav was rejected yesterday by Muzaffarnagar District and sessions judge Rama Jain in connection with Mukandpur killing case.

According to the prosecution, Rozuddin was shot dead and his nephew Arshad was seriously injured by some rioters including Gaurav, when they were on their way to seek shelter in village Mukandpur in the district on September 9 last year.

During investigations, SIT arrested six persons including Gaurav, all of whom are currently serving jail term.
