Bahuguna not satisfied with educational standards in Uttarakhand

Expressing dissatisfaction over the quality of education in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna asked teachers to understand their responsibilities and educate students well.

Dehradun: Expressing dissatisfaction over the quality of education in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Monday asked teachers to understand their responsibilities and educate students in a manner which would enable them to survive in today`s highly competitive world.
"Educational standards in our state cannot be called satisfactory. Teachers will have to understand their responsibilities well?and impart to students the kind of knowledge and skills they need?to stand on their own feet in today`s highly competitive age," Bahuguna said at a function in a city college.

Advising students to be tech-savvy, he said they should use television and internet to enhance their knowledge and not just for recreational purposes.

He also announced that science and computer faculty at Gandhi Inter College will be given recognition from the next session.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of three foot overbridges near Darshanlal chawk, Tehsil chawk and Gandhi Park and some infrastructure projects worth Rs 3 crore on Rajpur road.
