TMC trying to spread 'terror' before municipal polls: Left

Kolkata: The Left Front Tuesday alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress was deliberately trying to create a "lawless situation" in West Bengal before the polls to municipal corporations of Bidhanagar and Asansol.

"The ruling TMC is trying to create a lawless situation in Bengal. Yesterday's incident only proves the real situation in Bengal. The TMC in a pre-planned way is spreading terror before the municipal elections," West Bengal Left Front chairman Biman Bose said during a media conference.

Yesterday, three persons were killed on the outskirts of Bolpur in Birbhum district in an alleged TMC factional fight.

The West Bengal Left Front has already written to the State Election Commission requesting to ensure a free and fair municipal poll on October 3.

The municipal poll, which will be a four-cornered contest with the Trinamool Congress, CPI-M, BJP and Congress as the key players, holds immense political significance as it will be the last poll before the Assembly elections in April-May next year.
