Damascus: At least 60 soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed during an offensive by Al Qaeda-linked militant groups on a town in Idlib province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Saturday.
The Nusra Front and many other hardline militant groups were heavily shelling on Jisr al-Shughour town in the countryside of the province close to Turkey, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Observatory said the militant groups stormed Jisr al-Shughour on Saturday, just days after they announced the commencement of the battle for capturing the town.
