Death toll in Ghana petrol station fire rises to at least 90: Police

More than 70 people were killed in a fire at a petrol station in Ghana`s capital, Accra, as they sought shelter from heavy rains that caused widespread flooding, the police and Red Cross said Thursday.

Accra: At least 90 people were killed in a petrol station fire in Ghana`s capital, Accra, a police official told AFP on Thursday, warning that the death toll was likely to rise further.

"As at now, the confirmed figure is hovering around 90 but I know it will be more than that. The relevant agencies are doing the tally," Arthur Cephas, the national police spokesman said.
