Lagos: Nigerian troops have arrested a businessman in connection with the shocking abduction of 219 Chibok schoolgirls from Borno state last year.
Businessman Babuji Ya'ari is accused of leading a “terrorist cell” for Boko Haram militants while posing as a member of the self-defence Youth Vigilante Group, the AP report quoted Nigerian Major General Chris Olukolade.
He added that several women were also taken into custody after the arrest of Ya'ari.
The AP report further stated the Defence Ministry statement that one of the arrested woman, Hafsat Nako, had admitted to coordinating payroll for operatives for 10,000 maira a job.
The recent arrest has comes over an year after Islamist militant group Boko Haram kidnapped 273 schoolgirls from their boarding school in April 2014 as they prepared to appear for their final exams.
