London: A Scottish University has stripped US Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, of an honorary degree that was awarded to him in 2010, for making offensive remarks against Muslims. .
The Robert Gordon University (RGU) on Friday confirmed that it is revoking it after the US presidential frontrunner made controversial remarks about the members of the Islamic community, a report in Independent said.
The RGU, based in Aberdeen, had presented Trump with the award of Doctor of Business Administration (Honorary DBA) at the university in October 2010.
At the time, Professor John Harper, then RGU’s acting principal and vice-chancellor, had said, “He is recognised as one of the world’s top businessmen and our students - the entrepreneurs of tomorrow - can learn much from his business acumen, drive, and focus.”

The move came shortly after Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also stripped Trump from his role as a business ambassador for making the controversial remarks.
Trump is being criticised ever since he called for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”
Meanwhile, Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter has blasted Donald Trump, branding him “an a**hole” and accused Trump of taking “a page from the playbook of Hitler”.
