Suicide bombing hits police HQ in Cairo, four reported dead

A large explosion near police headquarters shook the capital on Friday morning, leaving dozens injured.

Cairo: A suicide car bomb attack outside police headquarters in central Cairo on Friday morning killed at least four people and injured around 50.

The Cairo Security Directorate, which includes police and state security, was damaged in the explosion. The blast occurred at around 6:30 am local time.

The blast comes a day before the third anniversary of the uprising in the country that toppled longtime president Hosni Mubarak.
Witnesses told the State TV that gunmen, soon after the blast took place, opened fire on the nearby buildings. The area, where the blast took place, was cordoned off by the police.

No militant group has claimed the responsibility for the blast so far.
