Watch: Russia using banned deadly chemicals in Syria

Russia is using banned white phosphorus bombs to target rebels in Syria. Media reports say that the Russian jets dropped white phosphorus bombs at Benin village in the Idlib province of the war-torn country earlier this month.

White phosphorus is used by the armies to create a smokescreen during day or to illuminate targets during night. It is highly inflammable and can burn through flesh and bones.

Use of white phosphorus is banned under the international rules. The reports say that Russia has been using this deadly chemical to target opposition groups of Bashar al-Assad, some of which enjoy support from US and its allies.
