Greater Noida: In an utter shock to a 40-year-old would-be groom, his bride and her family allegedly decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh, which he had arranged for the wedding as the girl was from a poor background, police said on Monday.

The incident was reported from Ladpura village here, Rajesh Sharma, Station Officer, Greater Noida police station said.

Anil visited his marriage venue last night to take stock of the wedding preparations, but was dumbstruck to find no trace of the bride and her family, police said.

The wedding was to be solemnised at Dadri today, they said.

A case has been registered at Greater Noida police station on a complaint by Anil and his family, Sharma said.
