AGARTALA: Hitting out at Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the government will soon be replaced with HIRA - Highway, I-way (digital connectivity), Roadway and Airway.
Ahead of state Assembly elections, the Prime Minister addressed a public rally in the northeast state of Tripura which is going to polls in a single phase on February 18.
"An era of development is about to come to Tripura. There is a hidden magician government here," said PM Modi.
Taking a dig at Manik Sarkar-led Communist Party of India, PM Modi further said that the people of Tripura do not even get minimum wages. "The existing government has cheated people of the state," he said.
With election pundits are expecting a close contest between the ruling Left Front and the saffron party, BJP high command is leaving no stones unturned to woo the voters of Tripura.
Modi questioned the ruling government in the state and asked the reason of not implementing the recommendations of the seventh pay commission.
Modi further said, "Wherever the red flag has reached, it has worked only for its own welfare and has always resorted to violent means."
While the government in Tripura has established an atmosphere of fear among the people who speak against them, the BJP's prime focuses will be Trade, Tourism, Training of the youth so that they get opportunities to shine, added Modi.
A massive layer of security blanket was thrown across the state in view of PM Modi's visit, with central and state paramilitary forces deployed at several places.
Joining the motion of thanks to President's address in Parliament, the Prime Minister on Wednesday had said that the BJP-led government prioritised the development of Northeast states since they came into power.
Meanwhile, state BJP said it does not support the demand for a separate state by dividing Tripura and its alliance with the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura's (IPFT) for the upcoming Assembly polls was on the basis of a common minimum programme.
Leaders of the ruling CPI(M) had accused the BJP of supporting the IPFT statehood demand while campaigning.
