New Delhi: The stunning former Miss World and terrific actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan celebrates her birthday on November 1. Hailed as the most good-looking woman around, Ash won the coveted Miss World beauty title in 1994 and since then there has been no looking back for her.
The gorgeous beauty made her movie debut in Mani Ratnam 1997 Tamil hit 'Iruvar'. In the same year, she starred in Bollywood film 'Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya' opposite Bobby Deol. However, her first commercial success was the Tamil romantic drama Jeans (1998).
After that, success touched her feet as she was widely accepted as a fine actress. She won two Best Actress awards at Filmfare for her performances in 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999) and 'Devdas' (2002) respectively. Both the films were directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Ash went on to garner critical acclaim in movies such as Tamil venture 'Kandukondain Kandukondain' (2000), Bengali film 'Chokher Bali' (2003), 'Raincoat' (2004), 'Provoked' (2006) and 'Guzaarish' (2010) to name a few.
She also starred in blockbuster films like YRF's 'Mohabbatein' (2000), 'Dhoom 2' (2006), 'Jodhaa Akbar' (2008), 'Enthiran' and 'Robot' (2010) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) among others.
The actress married Abhishek Bachchan on April 20, 2007, and they have a daughter named Aaradhya.
Ash has also lent support to various charitable organisations and supports various causes. She is the Goodwill Ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS). Also, a Cannes regular now, in 2003, she was the first Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival.
