New Delhi: The verdict in the Salman Khan blackbuck poaching case will be announced on 5 April. The Jodhpur court, where the case has been going for the last two decades, reserved the verdict after the final judgement.
Apart from Salman, actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu and Sonali Bendre, as well as Dushyant Singh, are accused in the case. Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri reserved the order to be pronounced on April 5 in the presence of Khan and other accused, including the local.
Salman counsel HM Saraswat told PTI that the final arguments in the case began on September 13 last year with the prosecution counsel citing the statements of the eyewitnesses of the case. "After the completion of the prosecution's arguments on October 23, we began our arguments on October 28 last year and completed on February 4," he said.
After this, the counsels for the co-accused began their arguments, which completed on March 24, he said.
During the shooting of the movie 'Hum Sath Sath Hain', Khan allegedly went on shooting expedition along with Saif, Neelam, Sonali and Tabu, killing two black bucks in Kankani area of Jodhpur. Following the incident, the Bishnoi community filed a case against all the five actors along with one local person, Dushyant Sinha, in the matter.
In two other cases, Salman went on to killed chinkaras in Bawad area and Ghoda farms. He was, however, acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court in the Chinkara killing case in 2016.
