Transport Allowance of these central government employees gets doubled

Finance Ministry has decided to double the Transport Allowance of central government employees who suffer from hearing disability, unlike earlier where only those employees who had hearing disability as well as were nonverbal or dumb, were eligible for the doubled rate of transport allowance.

New Delhi: Finance Ministry has decided to double the Transport Allowance of central government employees who have hearing disability.

As per a 2014 government order, so far only those with employees were eligible for doubled transport allowance who were both, hearing impaired and non verbal or dumb.

As per the ministry's order, “Transport Allowance at double the normal rates would be admissible to the `Hearing Impaired employees having loss of sixty decibels or more in the better ear in the conversation range of frequencies’ as per Persons With Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995”.

The admissibility of Transport Allowance at double the normal rates to above
categories of employees is subject to recommendation of the Head of ENT Department of a Government Civil Hospital and fulfillment of other conditions applicable in respect of other disabilities
