Is Your Car's Airbag Working? Here's How To Check It Yourself In Seconds: A Step-By-Step Guide

It’s quite simple. Observe the instrument cluster when starting your vehicle. During startup, the car’s computer performs a self-check on all major systems, including the airbags.

As you start the vehicle, You should see a light displaying a symbol of a person and the words "SRS" or "airbag" on the instrument cluster. If the system is functioning correctly, this light will turn off in a few seconds after the check.

It is called an airbag warning light. If the airbag warning light doesn’t turn off and remains lit while driving, it indicates an issue with the airbag system, which needs your immediate attention.

If this happens, take your car to a service center immediately and have the airbag system repaired because it directly concerns your safety, and compromising on safety is never advisable. 

It’s important to note that in India, two airbags are mandatory in cars. However, several OEMs are now offering 6 airbags as standard in their cars.
