Unilever recalls Dove, Tresemme
The aerosol dry shampoos from Uniliver including Dove and Tresemme have been recalled by Uniliver Plc in the United States after it was discovered that they were contaminated with a chemical called benzene that causes cancer. The recall order came after the US Food and Drug Administration’s observation and covers products like Nexxus, Suave and Tigi which makes Rockaholic and Bed Head dry shampoos. Unilever Plc has announced a voluntary recall of 19 popular dry shampoo aerosol products being sold in the US. Benzene is classified as a human carcinogen and can result in cancers including leukaemia and blood cancers.
Nestle Maggi Ban
That was a big shock for Maggi lovers when Nesle’s India had to recall its popular noodle product ‘Maggi’ from India market after the regulator termed it harmful for health. This step erupted Maggi controversy in 2015 which ensued for many imminent months with legal petitions challenging the order. Finally, the ban was revoked after having thorough investigations against the allegations and found no excessive lead in the product.

Ikea recalled millions of its ‘Made in India’ Troligtvis travel mugs in the beginning of 2022 across over 400 stores globally due to excessive levels of chemicals in the product. Further, the company asked its customers to immediately stop using the Troligtvis mugs due to excessive and harmful chemicals. Morever, the customers would get the full refund.
