Google has bought a central London building for $1 billion in a show of confidence in the future of the office as a place to work.
New Delhi: Google has bought a central London building for $1 billion (roughly Rs 7500 crore) in a show of confidence in the future of the office as a place to work, the tech giant said on Friday, January 14.

Moreover, Google is also planning to refit the building. The plan here is to make the building adapted for in-person teamwork. The building will also have meeting rooms for hybrid working. The company will also aim at creating more space for individuals.
The new changes to the building will also feature outdoor covered working spaces to enable work in the fresh air, the company said.

Prior to Google, the building was owned by a joint venture between Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets and Mitsubishi Estate London Limited.
Google said, “across all our UK sites, Google will have a capacity for 10,000 employees, as we continue to commit to the UK’s growth and success. This includes our new King’s Cross development, which is currently under construction."
