China's Yangtze Power Co., a subsidiary of Three Gorges Corp. and Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group has developed an electric luxury cruise ship called Yangtze River Three Gorges 1 for sightseeing trips in Yichang. The ship will go into commercial operations in April 2022 and can run 100 km on a single change. This is the world's first all-electric heavyload cruise ship that can carry up to 1,300 passengers and is 100 metres long and 16 metres wide. The ship saves around 530 metric tons of fuel and has been built with an investment of $23.5 million.
