Volkswagen has brought in the 2017 Passat luxury sedan at a starting – and introductory – price of Rs 29.99 lakh (ex showroom).

The car was launched at an event in New Delhi. Seen here is Steffen Knapp – Director at VW India – with the new car. This is the company’s second 2017 launch in the country – after Tiguan SUV.

In its latest form, the Passat is wider, lower and while it has a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model, the overall length of the car has reduced marginally.

The car also gets new design elements with sharp headlights with DRLs and light assists and an even more clean profile.

The rear also looks clean and the bootspace has gone up to 586 litres.

Powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine capable of 178 bhp, the car is feature packed on the inside as well.

There are a host of safety features including hands-free parking, nine airbags ESP, ABS, Hill Start Assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and park assist.
