New Delhi: Emoticons or emojis have significantly changed how we communicate in the digital age. People frequently use emojis to express or convey their feelings and sentiments in texts. Emojis have significantly increased our ability to communicate, to the point where many smartphone keyboards now automatically suggest the right emoticons as we type. As a result, July 17 is observed as World Emoji Day throughout the globe.

The idea for World Emoji Day was developed by Jeremy Burge, the creator of Emojipedia, in 2013. It's interesting that we celebrate this day on July 17 because the emoji for "calendar" represents the date. The internet currently offers more than 3,500 emoticons.
