Senior BJP leader and Speaker Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri, a six-time MLA lost the Sirsi seat.

R Ashoka

Minister R Ashoka, who too contested from two constituencies, was reelected from Padmanabhanagar but lost to Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar from Kanakapura.

V Somanna

Minister V Somanna lost to former CM and Congress leader Siddaramaiah from Varuna. He also lost from Chamarajanagar, the second segment from where he contested. Somanna belongs to the Lingayat community.

Murugesh Nirani

Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, lost from Lingayat heartland (Bilagi in Bagalkot district). The sugar baron was a strong contender for the Chief Ministership.

He is the Minister of Mines and Geology and Women and Child Development. Halappa Achar lost from Yelburga.

Shankar Patil Munenakoppa, Minister of Handloom, Textile and Sugar lost from Navalgund assembly seat.

BC Patil, a former Congress MLA who defected to the BJP lost to Congress party's Basavanappa Ujaneshwar from Hirekerur seat by a margin of 15,020 votes. He is the Minister for Agriculture.

School Education Minister BC Nagesh lost to Congress's K Shadakshari in Tiptur. Shadakshari defeated the two-term MLA by 17,652 votes.

Small Scale Industries Minister MTB Nagaraj who is Karnataka’s richest candidate lost to Congress’ Sharath Bachegowda by 4,787 votes.

Veteran Dalit leader and major irrigation minister Govind Karjol, who had earlier worked as Deputy Chief Minister has lost from Mudhol seat.

Law & Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Maduswamy was defeated by C B Suresh Babu of JD(S) in Chikkanayakanahalli.

BJP leader and Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar lost to Pradeep Eshwar (Congress) in Chikkaballapura.

BJP's B Sriramulu, the Transport Minister, was defeated by B Nagendra of Congress in Ballari by nearly 29,300 votes. Sriramulu has been elected to the Assembly five times and Lok Sabha once in the past. He is BJP’s most prominent ST face.
