Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing heavy snowfall from the past few days that has resulted in the Union Territory being cut-off from the rest of the country. The air and vehicular traffic movements were affected for the third day on Wednesday (January 6, 2021) due to poor weather conditions.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel have been continuously involved in the snow clearance operation, that also included clearing snow at the Srinagar International Airport's runway after it was closed due to heavy snowfall.
Several trucks stranded at Srinagar-Jammu National highway during heavy snowfall in Qazigund.
"The road clearance operation is going on at a war footing to ensure early restoration of traffic on the highway which is blocked at over a dozen places including Samroli, Nashri, Dalwas, Peera, Chanderkote, Cafeteria Morh, Marog, Monkey Morh, Moompassi, Seeri, Kela Morh, Panthiyal, Sherbibi, Rattanbass and Ramsu," said a traffic department official.
