Uttarakhand to receive more tourists in next 10 years than it did in last 100 years: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (November 5) visited Kedarnath and inaugurated re-development projects worth Rs 130 crore. He said that this decade belongs to Uttarakhand and that in the next 10 years, the state will receive more tourists than it did in the last 100 years.

 

The Prime Minister informed that a number of infrastructure works are planned for Uttarakhand including road connectivity to Char Dhams and ropeway near Hemkund Sahib to facilitate devotees. Read more

Navjot Singh Sidhu withdraws resignation as Punjab Congress chief

Navjot Singh Sidhu has taken back his resignation as the president of the Congress' Punjab unit.

 

"I have taken back my resignation (as Punjab Congress chief) and I categorically state that the day new Advocate General will be appointed and a new panel will come, I will take charge of my office. It was not any personal ego," Sidhu said.

 

He had resigned on September 28 and was reportedly upset over the bureaucratic setup and his commands not being followed after the Cabinet expansion in Punjab. Read more

Pollution can lead to more severe cases of COVID-19

While Delhi and many other parts of the country are coming to terms with the increase in air pollution after Diwali, the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has said that it may have an adverse effect on the number of COVID-19 cases.

 

He said, "Pollution has a huge effect on respiratory health especially on people with lung diseases, asthma as their disease worsens. Pollution can also lead to more severe cases of COVID-19. Should wear mask as it'll help in protection from both COVID-19 and pollution," Dr Randeep Guleria said.

 

Meanwhile, the air quality in the national capital is likely to improve further on November 6 and November 7 owing to strong winds. Read more
