With the aim of stopping the spread of the coronavirius COVID-19, the Centre extended the lockdown period up till May 3. But as the economy was in critical conditiona and badly affecting the lives of low-income earners, the government of India decided to permit certain essential services to function in areas that are not coronavirus containment zones after April 20.

Additional guidelines were issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs permitting a few more activities for non-containment zones.
