India lockdown amid coronavirus COVID-19 scare: Special AC trains start on Day 49

Here, we bring you a glimpse of how India is coping up with the global pandemic on lockdown day 49.

India is facing the worst wave of coronavirus outbreak as the COVID-19 confirmed cases have spiked sharply over the past few weeks. The total number of COVID-19 infections in the country has increased to 70,756 while more than 2,293 people have succumbed to the virus, according to the Union Health Ministry data on its website on Sunday.

There were over 3,604 confirmed cases and 97 deaths in the last 24 hours across the country. India's recovery rate stands at 30.75 percent.

Indian Railways on Tuesday also started running 'special trains' to let people across India reach their homes. Many people from around the world have also been brought back under the 'Vande Bharat' initiative.
