India on Friday (January 14) celebrated the festival of Makar Sankranti amid the surging COVID-19 infections. Though the government of various states imposed plenty of restrictions and urged citizens to avoid large gatherings to check the spread of coronavirus, however, people defied the COVID-19 protocols and went to markets and religious places.
