World Heritage Day or International Day for Monuments and Sites is celebrated annually on April 18.

The day is promoted by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) globally. ICOMOS aims to promote the conservation, protection, use and enhancement of heritage monuments, building complexes and sites.

Let us look at some UNESCO World Heritage sites in India you can visit:

Situated in Agra, this heritage site is also one of the seven ‘new wonders of the world’. It was built by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
