Amid concerns over low COVID-19 vaccination, PM Narendra Modi to hold review meeting

Moments after returning to India from the United Kingdom and Italy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a review meeting with districts having low COVID-19 vaccination coverage on Wednesday (November 3). The video conferencing meeting is scheduled to take place at 12 PM.

 

The meeting will include districts with less than 50% coverage of the first dose and low coverage of the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Read more

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will on Wednesday formally inaugurate the Diwali celebrations in the holy city of Ayodhya. Besides presiding over various cultural events, the Chief Minister will also release the Ayodhya Vision Document for all-round and holistic development of the ancient town.

Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday (November 2) sent a seven-page resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and announced that the 'Punjab Lok Congress' will be his new party's name.  

In a 7-page resignation letter, Singh listed out his achievements as chief minister and slammed the Gandhis for a 'conspiracy' to oust him from the state government. He also lashed out at Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and senior party leader Harish Rawat. Read more

At least 25 killed, 50 wounded as blasts, gunfire hit Kabul hospital

At least 25 people were killed and more than 50 wounded when gunmen attacked Afghanistan's biggest military hospital after two heavy explosions at the site in central Kabul.

 

The explosions hit the entrance of the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital and were followed by an assault by a group of Islamic State gunmen, all of whom were killed within 15 minutes.

Centre announces winners of Khel Ratna award

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Tuesday announced the National Sports Awards 2021 for Tokyo Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, silver medal-winning wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya, boxer Lovlina Borgohain, and Paralympic Games medallists Avani Lekhara, Pramod Bhagat, Krishna Nagar, Sumit Antil, and Manish Narwal. 

Hockey team captain Manpreet Singh and goalkeeper PR Sreejesh along with cricketer Mithali Raj and national football team skipper Sunil Chhetri were the others named for the Khel Ratna award.

The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award awardees will be given by President Ram Nath Kovind on November 13. Read more
