Apart from festivals, the ban also covers all kinds of gatherings as well. The state governments are ramping up coronavirus testing, especially for people coming from outside the state. Meanwhile, India reported 47,262 new cases of the novel coronavirus, which is the highest reported single-day rise for the year 2021.
