Jagannath Rath Yatra begins in Ahemdabad amid tight police security. Hundreds of people gathered outside the Lord Jagannath Temple early on Monday morning.
New Delhi: Rath Yatra began at Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Monday (July 12, 2021) ahead of which Chief Minister Vijay Rupani offered his prayers to Lord Jagannath. Jagannath Temple is all decked up ahead of Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad.
The Yatra celebrates the annual journey of Lord Jagannath and his two siblings from the 12th-century Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple, their aunt’s home, some 2.5 kilometres away.

PM Modi greets nation on Rath Yatra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the nation on Rath Yatra and prayed to Lord Jagannath for their good health and prosperity. "Greetings to everyone on the special occasion of the Rath Yatra. We bow to Lord Jagannath and pray that his blessings bring good health and prosperity in everyone`s lives. Jai Jagannath!," said PM Modi in a tweet today.
VP Naidu greets nation on Rath Yatra
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday greeted people on the occasion of Rath Yatra. “My heartiest greetings and good wishes on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra! Lord Jagannath's Puri Rath Yatra is one of the most revered and much-awaited festivals for devotees from Odisha and across India," the Vice President Secretariat tweeted.
