The six-year-old daughter of martyred jawan Deepak Nainwal paid tribute to her brave father who died in an encounter with the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Nainwal's body was brought to his hometown in Dehradun on May 21, 2018, for the last rites. Nainwal suffered serious injuries while he tried to encounter a group of heavily-armed terrorists. He was shot twice during the counter operation. After struggling for life for over a month, the jawan breath his last on May 20, 2018. He succumbed to his injuries at Pune's Command Hospital at around 10 pm.

Commanding Officer of 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Rai was killed in a fierce encounter with the terrorists whom he was battling in Pulwama district'a Tral.
