Schools, colleges shut in Delhi-NCR, construction work halted
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) late Tuesday (November 16) night issued directions like a ban on construction work, shutting of schools, work from home, among other measures to control air pollution in Delhi-NCR.
Trucks, except those carrying essential goods, can also not enter Delhi till November 21. Read more
India slams Pakistan at UNSC, asks it to ‘vacate illegally occupied areas of J&K’
India at the United Nations Security Council has slammed Pakistan for raking up the Kashmir issue and has called upon Islamabad to immediately vacate all areas of Jammu and Kashmir under its illegal occupation.
"I would like to categorical about India`s position, the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India. This includes the areas that are under the illegal occupation of Pakistan," Dr Kajal Bhat, Counsellor at India`s Permanent Mission to the UN, said. Read more
US 'not going to change' Taiwan policy: Joe Biden hits back after China warning
After convening a virtual meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden on Tuesday warned that Washington is "not going to change its Taiwan policy".
"We are not going to change our policy at all," Biden said. "They have to decide - they, Taiwan, not us - and we are not encouraging independence. We are encouraging that they do exactly what the Taiwan Act requires," the US President added. Read more
IMD predicts heavy rainfall in several states
For the next few days, as many as seven-eight states/UTs will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in an isolated area, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, coastal and south interior Karnataka, north Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - these places will receive showers in isolated places on November 17 and November 18. Read more
