New Delhi: Many political leaders on Monday (March 22) attacked the Maharashtra government over ex- Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh’s letter. During the question hour, treasury bench members raised the Maharashtra issue with Deputy Chairman Harivansh, asking them to allow the proceedings.
However, as soon as Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi answered supplementaries, the Chair asked Chaya Verma to proceed to the next question. The Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm, amid uproar over corruption allegations in Maharashtra.

“On what basis was a man suspended for 16 years and jailed, reinstated? When there was a BJP govt, Uddhav Thackeray himself had called up Devendra Fadnavis for reinstating Sachin Waze, Fadnavis had refused. When Thackeray govt came, they reinstated him,” said Independent MP Navneet Ravi Rana in Parliament.
Prakash Javadekar raises questions in Parliament
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar then raised the Maharashtra issue referring to the alleged corruption in the state. “Never before had the world seen a bomb being planted by Police. Is this normal? This is an extraordinary issue. The CM has no right to continue in his position. What does it show if his trustworthy personnel plants bomb, as alleged by ATS?,” questioned Prakash Javadekar.
Maharashtra BJP demands Deshmukh's resignation
Additionally, Maharashtra BJP has demanded Deshmukh to step down from the post in light of the allegations leveled by ex-Mumbai CP Param Bir Singh against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. In the letter ex-top cop alleged that Deshmukh asked Assistant Inspector Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crores for him every month from places across Mumbai.
