Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday (October 16, 2021) spoke on the upcoming Assembly elections and suggested ways on how the party can 'do well'. Addressing the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at the AICC headquarters in Delhi, Sonia also stated that she is 'a full-time and hands-on Congress president'.
Sonia Gandhi on forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections
During her opening remarks at the Congress Working Committee meeting, Sonia Gandhi said that their preparations for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections had already begun.
"Undoubtedly, we face many challenges, but if we are united, if we are disciplined and if we focus on the Party's interest alone, I am confident that we will do well," she said.
Sonia also commented on October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri incident
Sonia also spoke on the 'shocking incidents' in Lakhimpur Kheri and attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. She said that the recent incident 'betrays' the mindset of BJP, how it perceives Kisan Andolan (farmers' protest) and how it has been dealing with this determined struggle by farmers to protect their lives and livelihoods.

Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma were also present during the meeting at the AICC headquarters.
