Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled Asia’s largest helicopter manufacturing facility in Karnataka that will initially produce Light Utility Helicopters (LUHs) for the Indian Army and Indian Air Force.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled Asia’s largest helicopter manufacturing facility in Karnataka’s Tumakuru which is also a new greenfield helicopter factory. This HAL plant will initially produce Light Utility Helicopters (LUHs). The LUH is an indigenously designed 3-ton class, single-engine multipurpose utility helicopter with the unique feature of high maneuverability. Both Indian Army and Indian Air Force has placed orders for the new helicopter, that will replace the ageing HAL Chetak helicopter. The factory will be expanded to manufacture other helicopters such as Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Indian Multirole Helicopter (IMRH).
