How did she started playing tennis?
First Grand slam victory
After years of playing and winning at junior level tennis, winning in doubles, clinching WTA title, her first Grand Slam victory came in French Open 2019, beating Karolina Pliskova in the final. She then won the Wimbledon in 2020 and Australian Open in 2022. In total, she has won three Grand Slams. (Source: Twitter)
Break from tennis to play cricket
Following the 2014 US Open, Barty announced that she was taking a break from professional tennis. During this hiatus, she tried her hand at Cricket. She became interested in potentially playing cricket after meeting with the Australian women's national team in early 2015, and started training with Andy Richards, the coach of Queensland Fire, in July 2015. She started playing for the Western Suburbs District Cricket Club, and led the team to win the Brisbane's Women's Premier Cricket Twenty20 league in the grand final, as the team’s top scorer in the match.
