The West Indies finish their Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign on a high after defeating Afghanistan by 23 runs.

Afghanistan are off to a good start to the chase of 312 against West Indies despite the early dismissal of skipper Gulbadin Naib, reaching a score of 44/1 at the end of the first powerplay. 

Afghanistan have been set a target of 312 runs to win at the end of 50 overs with Shai Hope the top-scorer having scored 77 runs. Dawlat Zadran was the highest wicket-taker accounting for two wickets.

Shai Hope departs for 77 runs off 92 deliveries in an innings comprising of six boundaries and two sixes as Mohammad Nabi dismisses the batsman.  

Evin Lewis departs for 58 as Rashid Khan accounts for the dismissal of the opener with the West Indies score at 109/2.

West Indies reach 43/1 at the end of the first powerplay following a partnership between Shai Hope and Evin Lewis after the early dismissal of Chris Gayle.

Chris Gayle has been dismissed for seven runs off 18 deliveries as Dawlat Zadran picks his first wicket of the clash, accounting for the opener. 

West Indies skipper Jason Holder has won the toss and opted to bat against Afghanistan. Evin Lewis and Kemar Roach replace Sunil Ambris and Shannon Gabriel for the Windies. Sayed Shirzad and Dawlat Zadran replace Hamid Hassan and Hashmatullah Shahidi for Afghanistan.
