The delayed Tokyo Olympics will finally get underway on Friday (July 23) and India will be hoping for their highest-ever medal haul from these Games. India has sent their biggest-ever contingent with 119 athletes competing in 85 different medal categories. Shuttler PV Sindhu
2016 Rio Olympics silver-medallist PV Sindhu will look to go one better at Tokyo Olympics. Sindhu recently made it to the semifinals of the All England Open where she lost to Thai player Pornpawee Chochuwong. The Hyderabad-born has worked on her defense and he had qualified directly for the Olympics as her BWF ranking is under 10. (Source: Twitter)
Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu is the only Indian taking part in the weightlifting event at Tokyo Olympics. She is currently ranked at No. 2 in the 49 kg category. She won a silver in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and then bettered her performance by winning Gold at World Championships and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. (Source: Twitter)

Wrestler Bajrang Punia
Wrestler Bajrang Punia, who will be competing in the 65kg freestyle, will be India's biggest hope from this discipline at Tokyo Olympics. Punia won a Gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games and has also won two Asian Championships. In 2021, the 27-year old won a Silver medal in Asian Wrestling Championships in Kazakistan. (Source: Twitter)
