Opening combinations

Opening combinations

KKR have tried as many as 5 opening combinations this season and that pretty much sums up their campaign. KKR management have failed to stick to one opening pair due to form or lack of trust. Aaron Finch, Venkatesh Iyer, Sheldon Jackson, Ajinkya Rahane, Sunil Narine have all been tried for the slot but nothing has really worked for them. (Image source: Twitter)

Big players failing to live up to the bill

Shreyas Iyer knows that even he has not lived up to the bill. He has not shone with the bat and has failed to deliver as a captain. The other big players in the list include Aaron Finch, Ajinkya Rahane, Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell. (Image source: Twitter)

Injuries and pull outs

Alex Hales was the first cricketer hired by KKR for this season and beyond to drop a bomb on the team when he pulled out citing bubble fatigue reasons. KKR have now lost Pat Cummins due to an injury. Replacements have not really lived up to the standards of the competition. (Image source: Twitter)

Friction between head coach and captain

Friction between head coach and captain

KKR head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Shreyas Iyer were seen having a heated argument during one of the games they lost. Disagreements are a part and parcel of the game but having heated debate in the dugout area with all cameras on you reveals something about the environment in the dressing room. It is quite likely that captain and coach have not been on the same page on many key decisions. (Image source: Twitter)

Bad selections, frequent changes

Bad selections, frequent changes

KKR have done consistent changes, trying to find the right combinations and in doing so they have picked wrong players. Pat Cummins got drop mid-season after a couple of poor outings. Imagine dropping a World Class and No 1 bowler due to some failures. They even dropped Venkatesh Iyer, who took them to the final last season. KKR needed to show some respect and trust in these players. (Image source: Twitter)
