Thought I was going to be raped, says US politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on January 6 Capitol riots

United States politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said that she didn't just think that she would be killed during the US Capitol riots but also feared being raped in the violence that shook the whole world in January this year.

Ocasio-Cortez, one of America's most prominent progressive Democrats, made the shocking revelation during an interview with CNN on Monday (August 9, 2021).

The Congresswoman said, "There's a lot of sexualizing of that violence and I didn't think that I was just going to be killed. I thought other things were going to happen to me as well."

On being asked if she thought she was going to be raped, Ocasio-Cortez answered, "Yeah, I thought I was."

This is to be noted that over 500 people have been charged with taking part in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
