Nine people including six women were killed in two separate road accidents in Rajasthan on Saturday.

Jodhpur/Jaipur: Nine people including six women were killed in two separate road accidents in Rajasthan on Saturday.

Six members of a family, including a 23-year-old woman who was to get married next month, were killed this morning when their car collided with a truck near Bilara area on Jodhpur-Jaipur highway here.

The family was travelling from Nagaur district to Jodhpur in two cars when one them was hit by a truck, killing two persons on the spot, they said.

Police said the mishap took place as the driver tried to overtake at a high speed.

Four others were critically injured in the mishap and died on the way to a hospital in Bilara.

Sharda's marriage was scheduled for next month and the family was coming to Jodhpur for shopping as part of the wedding preparations. Just before the mishap near village Bhavi, Sharda had shifted into the ill-fated car carrying four others women of her family, police said.

Besides Sharda, the deceased were identified as -- Annu (35), Pappu Devi (35), Geeta (35), Chuka Devi (40) and Mohan Ram (40), they said.

The collision was so severe that the police had to pull out the victims from mangled remains of the car with the help of locals.

The second road accident took place in Rajaldesar area in Churu district, in which three men identified as Ponnam Chand (24), Ravindra Kumar (28) and Kamlesh Kumar (22) were killed when their jeep rammed into a stationary truck.

The bodies have been handed over to family members after postmortem.
