Hundreds of NASA's studies now available online for free!

New Delhi: Now you can easily keep yourself updated with the fascinating discoveries of the space.

Recently, NASA has made an announcement to make all of its publicly funded research available online via a new public access web portal. That means, one can access all published research by US space agency on a brand new portal named PubSpace at absolutely zero cost.

This development was made possible thanks to the Obama Administration, which in 2013, directed NASA and other agencies to increase access to their research, which was typically hidden behind a paywall (if it was available online in the first place), according to Tech Times.

The new policy requires NASA to post any research articles funded by it on Pubspace within a year of publication.

As expected, there are some exemptions. NASA's research related to national security is exempted from this rule. Currently, 850 articles are already on PubSpace and that number will increase in time.

“Making our research data easier to access will greatly magnify the impact of our research,” NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan said in a statement. “As scientists and engineers, we work by building upon a foundation laid by others.” This move is taken in a view to make scientific knowledge more readily available to the common people.
