2nd Test, Day 5: India vs South Africa – Play called off due to wet outfield

New Delhi: After losing three days play due to persistent rain, the fifth and the final day of the 2nd Test match between India and South Africa was also called off due to wet outfield.

Umpires made several inspections of the ground but there was no possibility of play considering the puddles on the outfield and some drizzle on the final day as well.

Even though it didn't rain last night, the overcast conditions forced the umpire to delay the start.

Indian bowlers bundled out the visitors for just 214 runs on the first day, where AB de Villiers played a fighting 85-run knock in what is his 100th Test.

In reply, Shikhar Dhawan (45) and Murali Vijay (28) got India off to a great start with an unbeaten 80-run stand for the first wicket.

In total, just 81 overs were bowled on the first day and not a single ball has been bowled in the match since then.
