Anil Kumble: It's a great honour to be back in Indian dressing room in different role

New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble was made the new coach of Indian cricket team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday.

Immediately after the announcement by the cricket board, Kumble spoke to media and gave his first reaction by saying: "It's a great honour to be back in Indian dressing room in a different role."

The legendary leg-spinner will coach Team India for one year.

Jumbo feels that coaching Team India is a big responsibility. "It’s a huge responsibility, ready to take this role. Coaches come later, it’s always players first. Strategy will be to win."

Kumble, 45, also believes that it's going to be a difficult task for him to perform as India play a lot of cricket throughout the year. "I think it's time for me to give back. But it's not easy to travel 365 days. I spoke to family. It's not been easy."

While talking about the roadmap Kumble added: "Need to sit down with Sourav (Ganguly), Sachin (Tendulkar), (VVS) Laxman and (Rahul) Dravid and need to do what is best for Indian cricket."
