Asia Cup: Mahendra Singh Dhoni skips practice session, participation in 1st T20I vs Bangladesh still doubtful

New Delhi: India's limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Wednesday skipped the practice session ahead of first T20I against Bangladesh at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

The 32-year-old had suffered from muscle spasm earlier during training post which Parthiv Patel was called up as his back-up.

With the ICC World Twenty20 to be played in India next month, India won't want to risk Dhoni's fitness in the continental tournament.

And if he misses out from the playing XI, another concern for the team management would be the batting position of Patel, as he is an opener while Dhoni is one of the best finishers in world cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been brilliant at the top of the order, while there is no better batsman than Virat Kohli for the number three spot.

It remains to be seen whether the Indian think tank would experiment with the batting order in case Dhoni doesn't play the first match.
