Asia Cup T20: Comebacks are much more difficult than debuts, says Ashish Nehra

New Delhi: Veteran Indian seamer who made a comeback into the national team after a gap of almost five years, has become an inspiration for many senior cricketers who are eyeing a return in Team India.

However, the 37-year-old Nehra feels that in international cricket comebacks are much more difficult than making debuts.

"It's very difficult to make a comeback. Comebacks are much more difficult than debuts. I've made a comeback after 36," Nehra told PTI ahead of the Asia Cup T20I, scheduled to take place in Bangladesh between February 24 to March 6.

Nehra also believes that it is difficult for pacers to keep performing under instant pressure.

"It's not easy for pacers to keep performing day in and day out. There will be pressure. You have to keep working hard. I train to play international cricket, not aim to play only domestic cricket," added Nehra.

The left-arm pacer has proved the national selectors right by scalping seven wickets in last six T20Is, against Australia and Sri Lanka.

However, Nehra feels that Indian Premier League (IPL) has helped him in big way.

"You don't play many T20Is. IPL is a great help for us when it comes to T20 cricket. You get used to it as a bowler. You just practice according. It's not a big deal for me. I'm somebody bowling up front or one or two overs in the death. The more you play, the better you become," said Nehra.
