New Delhi: After losing probably their most crucial tie of the Asia Cup T20 against arch-rivals India on Saturday, Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi didn't give any excuses and simply said that they failed to read the track.
After being invited to bat first, Pakistan batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards as they were bundled out for paltry 85 runs, without playing their full quota of 20 overs.
"We have played so much cricket, we should have read the pitch, we did not play according to the pitch, if we lose 4-5 batsmen in the first six overs we can't score 140,” said visibly miffed Afridi in the post match presentation.
Afridi, 35, also hailed Indian batsmen Virat Kohli (49) and Yuvraj Singh (14*), who helped India win the much-anticipated clash, after facing early jitters.
“We had to read the situation, Kohli was an example, and Yuvi. It was not 160 pitch, If we had survived the fast bowlers there wasn't much turn on the pitch for their spinners. You could have managed 7-8 runs in an over," added Afridi.
Kohli ran away with Man of the Match award for his match-winning and patient knock.
