New Delhi: Chennai-based Chettinad Cement is among six firms that have shown interest to buy temporary IPL franchises to replace the suspended CSK and RR.
According to a report in Pune Mirror, BCCI's Invitation To Tender (ITT) document was purchased by the company recently.
Though there is no link between Chettinad Cement and CSK owners India cements, former BCCI president and N Sinivasan's arch rival AC Muthiah is believed to be associated with Chettinad Cement according to CNN-IBN.
"We have just bought the form and we are looking at it," a top Chettinad official told Pune Mirror.
Other high profile business owners that are looking to pick up IPL franchises include the Goenka brothers - Harsh of RPG Group (CEAT Tyres) and Sanjiv who is a co-owner of the Atletico de Kolkata team in the Indian Super League.
Videocon too has taken BCCI's form that will be issue to interested parties till November 30.
Another Chennai-based company, tyre manufacturer MRF Limited, is also expected to join the bidding race.
The two new IPL teams are likely to be unveiled by the Indian board in the first week of December.
These teams will feature in the tournament for the next two seasons, after which CSK and RR will return having served the two-year suspension.
